Before the Awards

Having worked closely with the client on the inaugural Finance Awards Wales in 2018, we already had a well-established idea of how they would like the ceremony to be brought together for the 2019 awards.

From the launch of the awards back in October 2018, Grapevine’s role was predominately to liaise with suppliers, the venue, maintain entries and to keep guests updated with information regarding the night itself.

Grapevine collated all the award entries and once shortlisting was done, contacted all the finalists to arrange their interview date and time. 45 interviews took place over 3 days by a panel of judges.

Before the awards, as well as getting the certificates printed and trophies ordered, we worked with the client to produce the programme book and the table plan ready for the night.

On the Night

The format of the night was a drinks reception on arrival, followed by a three-course meal then the awards presentation. To kick start the evening, we heard from talented male singers that make up ‘Ymlaen’ – a branch of ‘Only Boys Aloud’. They were a perfect fit for entertainment as The Aloud Charity were the chosen charity for the evening. After hearing from the principal sponsors – Recruit 121 – it was then over to Tim Rhys-Evans OBE to host.

Result

A successful award ceremony with 400 people in attendance, 13 awards were handed out with Principality Building Society winning the Financial Services Team of the Year award. Post awards, there has been media coverage in Business News Wales, South Wales Argus and Wales 247.

An incredible £1536 was also raised on the night for The Aloud Charity.
